I am in the midst of a transition. As my body sheds the excess weight my blood sugar has stabilized, I sleep better and even my eyesight has improved. Certainly, my clothes aren’t as tight and having clothes that don’t fit because they are too loose is amazing. I can even paint my toenails now because I can see and reach them now as the belly recedes. These physical changes are obvious to the people around me. They can see me shrinking, can see my health getting better and hopefully are inspired themselves to make the changes they need to make to improve their own health.
What isn’t as obvious are the changes happening inside of me. There was a time in my life where I made the statement that “as soon as I get rid of all my bad habits, vices, etc. I will go to Church.” I felt like I had to change in order to go to Church and be in God’s presence. But that was totally backward of what it should be and is. We shouldn’t change to go to Church, we should go to church to be changed.
These changes start from the inside out. Maybe its just a subtle change, like feeling less stressed out after a church service. Maybe it’s a radical change and you find a sense of belonging that you’ve never known and can’t wait to repeat as often as you can. And sometimes, its just you may not even know that the changes are taking place. You’re a little less aggravated at traffic, or rude people affect you less. Or maybe its just a change in awareness of what’s all around you and how you perceive it. Those annoying purple weeds in my yard for example. They are a sign that Spring is just around the corner. An attitude of gratitude begans to overtake you. You begin to look forward to what the next day brings.
Because nothing stays the same. As the seasons all around us change, so do the circumstances we find ourselves in. Life is constantly changing and though sometimes I just wish I could yell Freeze and stop the world for a moment when I’m having a particularly good experience, I have learned that even the tough situations resolve sooner or later. The broken heart mends and is stronger. The faith that was rattled returns to rock solid when the trial is gone. The children who kept you so busy you can’t think straight will grow up and then you will wish you were that busy again.
Gods’ changes in you begin to become obvious to those around you. In your smile, in your dedication to service. Your heart is in the right place and God honors that and takes you to the next level of fulfillment. Your life, once frantic and overextended and full of junk begins to become stable and steady and full of the good things. And pretty soon, without realizing it :
I'm waking up to find,
A different state of mind (Journey)
And thats amazing!!Penny for your thoughts!
